Italian Wool 'Isabella Pea Coat'

This is the woollen pea coat I made for my daughter, Isabella.
I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
Dark navy wool coat lined with ecru and navy floral sprigs and I just have to attach the buttons and it's done!  Perfect for everyday wear in our cold and windy climate.

I've named it the 'Isabella Pea Coat'.
What do you think of it?

Bibs

Drafting my own pattern (but similar to many out there, I mean... it's a very common shape) and using Ava Rose fabric, I made this little cutie for our little cutie who is now 14 months old.

So easy to make, I'll try my hand at uploading a template soon.

Smock tops

Newly made are these smock tops.  I love the versatility of them.  Generous in size, it's a dress and as  the wearer grows, it becomes a top.  Perfect for layering during Autumn and Winter and perfect for Spring and Summer.   Did I tell you how perfect they are?  Easy to launder, a quick iron and perfect to go.

French Journal fabric.  I love this design!

Silk Slippers

I made these little beauties a little while ago now and will be making more but had to share them here.  These ones have a silk sole but future pairs will have a suede leather sole (perfect for cruising babies and those free walking).

I found the pattern online but it was a little weird so I tweaked it and came up with these.  I still need to tweak it a bit but you get the general idea.

They're 100% ivory silk and have an frayed bow with champagne coloured gem on the toes.

Might have to make a pair for myself!

Little Princess slippers......

I did it.... I made a fully lined pair of little Princess slippers, complete with a pearl centred rosette and suede leather sole.
I knew it couldn't be too hard..... but getting ones mind around the process when you don't have instructions can be a little daunting.

What do you think?   Not bad hey?

Avast Me Hearties!

I've been busily making some pirate patches today for Candy Soiree's.
Here is a similar photo of what I've made.

Made using black cotton drill and interfacing plus lengths of black elastic.
These little ones will be heading to a little persons pirate birthday party very soon.

1st Birthdays

My daughter will be celebrating her first birthday soon and in between sewing yummy things, I'm busily planning her special day and I mean e v e r y t h i n g... I'm making her birthday outfit, and doing the catering myself as well as the decorating.  Planning invitations in the next few days... eeeek.... (I have 10 days and counting)

Here is Sophia, 2 weeks of age.  xxxx

This is one of the little dresses I've made for my two daughters.

It isn't the best photograph so I do apologise for that.

I love making this style.  I can almost make them with my eyes closed now LOL.

They're so easy to wear and launder (which is a huge plus when you have washing for 7 children).

Feel free to let me know what you think.  :)

Summer nights

While the rest of the Country is in chaos, Canberra weather has been pretty much perfect.   For instance, tonight, my hubby and I were able to go for a late night swim while the kids were sound asleep.  The stars are so bright and the sky, clear.... I feel guilty for even enjoying this indulgence... but I have donated several items over at The Oz Material Girls Flood Appeal Auction.  I am also going to go through my children's clothing, toys and bedding to donate.

To bid on the Auction items, please follow this Facebook link....

There are three albums to peruse and over 400 items up for Auction.

French Vintage inspired..... for Isabella.

This is my adorable little Sweetpea Princess, Isabella.
I made this little outfit for her today....
Pale blossom pink 7/8th pants with a ruffled hemline and a black top embellished with lace and ribbon and a strand of pearls for a touch of pizzaz!
I also made her headband but you can't really see the detail in it from this photo.

Had a great time making it... was a total thrill.
Excuse my wilted hydrangeas (it's hot here) and the artwork on the wall behind, proudly supplied by Isabella.

Little dresses...

After having 5 boys in a row... and then two little girls, my world of pink and dresses has blossomed!

I love this recent addition....

This fabric is gorgeous... I actually cringed at cutting this but look at the result.  I'm pleased.

What do you think?

Creative vibe....

I sew for the love of it.... I love to be creative and share my thoughts and ideas with others.  I especially love showing photo's of what I've made.  I love the feedback also sooooo,  I've decided to try out handstamped cotton ribbon.

Made from 100% tea stained cotton and stamped with permanent ink, I've made a selection to send out to 'project testers'.  I have a couple of ladies willing to take on the samples and use as they see fit.  They will also report back with a small questionnaire I've put together.

If anyone else is interested in obtaining FREE samples of ribbon, please let me know and I will organise to send some out to you.  I'd love to see photo's of your finished product using the sample if you wish to share.

I look forward to sharing the results and photo's of my latest project.

The Castle...

We spent a few hours here at The Castle here in Commonwealth Park, Canberra today.
It's a really cool playground surrounded by beautiful parkland, ponds and gardens.

Our 10 month old Princess, Sophia.

Patrick and Harry playing on the Castle.

A relieved visitor.....

We had a little visitor today.... Kermit the Frog came over for a swim in our pool however, he wasn't invited.  I feel sorry for the poor little fellow... even though he was rescued and taken to more suitable habitat.... the saltwater from the pool isn't kind to little froggies.

Thank you to my brave hubby for rescuing him... Wildlife Warrior style.
